DRINKIN’ THE BLUES words & music -Lenny Solomon

It’s 4 am, nothing to do
Wondering if, his life is
through
His past and future’s, come
and gone
Hoped he’d hook, a passing
dream
But he found, his losing
scheme
Had no beginning, and no end
He’s
a soul who lost his stake
In
the life he hoped to make
Now
each day is filled with achin’
So
he’s drinkin’ the blues
He used to be, an open book
But the years, just tore and
took
His happiness, ripped from his
heart
A photograph, them standing
there
In innocence, no despair
That was long ago, long ago
He’s
a soul who lost his stake
In
the life he hoped to make
Now
each day is filled with achin’
So
he’s drinkin’ the blues
Drinking the blues….Drinking
the blues…
Don’t like the sun, he don’t
like the moon
Can’t see that changing,
anytime soon
Don’t like the breeze,
blowing through his hair
Can’t see tomorrow, memory’s
blind
Can’t see deliverance, can’t
clear his mind
From love he’s lost, or
never found
He’s
a soul who lost his stake
In
the life he hoped to make
Now
each day is filled with achin’
So
he’s drinkin’ the blues
Drinking the blues….Drinking
the blues…
