Island
of Misplaced Souls
word & music Lenny Solomon © L. Solomon 2006
I climbed
over the mountains, I sailed over the seas
I said my
prayers to the universe, I fell down on bended knees
I paid my
dues to chambermaids, I studied with the wise and the
old
But the
only place found some rest (pause)
Was on
the island of misplaced souls, the island of misplaced souls
I just
read the paper, a story about a man
Who took
from all who loved him, just because he can
When
questioned ‘fore the jury, he tried to cop a plea
Said he
should be forgiven, cause he’s just you and me
I climbed
over the mountains, I sailed over the seas
I said my
prayers to the universe, I fell down on bended knees
I paid my
dues to chambermaids, I studied with the wise and the
old
But the
only place found some rest (pause)
Was on
the island of misplaced souls, the island of misplaced souls
It’s
quiet here this morning, I don’t hear a sound
Except
for my heart beating, pumping to hold its ground
The
upstairs neighbor’s sleeping, I guess he had a night
Searching
for some answer, to make his whole world right
I climbed
over the mountains, I sailed over the seas
I said my
prayers to the universe, I fell down on bended knees
I paid my
dues to chambermaids, I studied with the wise and the
old
But the
only place found some rest (pause)
Was on
the island of misplaced souls, the island of misplaced souls
All I see
around me, are remnants of a scene
Fading
from my memory, maybe it was a dream
Angels were
looking over me, smiling, outstretched arms
Then they
all departed, never meant them harm
I climbed
over the mountains, I sailed over the seas
I said my
prayers to the universe, I fell down on bended knees
I paid my
dues to chambermaids, I studied with the wise and the
old
But the
only place found some rest (pause)
Was on
the island of misplaced souls, the island of misplaced souls
