LILAC NIGHT

words and music by Lenny Solomon

Looking out my back street window,
Sun is gone, the day is done,
Wondering, if I'll hear the footsteps,
From those years ago, when I was young.

Silence, sweeping through the darkness,
Creeping on forever more,
Never stating any business,
Leaving nothing to explore.

Laughter's, like the child's memories,
Forgotten, as if they never were,
My future, is farther in the distance,
And all my hopes, just seem to blur.

Dreams lie shallow in the water,
Turning thoughts a violet hue,
They blend with passion's magic moments,
Of the springtime, that I spent with you.

Silver streaming in the morning,
Golden colors guard her in her flight;
Guess I'll never know the reason,
She went winging on that lilac night.
