PLAYERS IN THE BAND

Bill and Den, just a couple
of Joes
Making music wherever they
go
They’re just players in the
band
Met them both several years
ago,
In a honky-tonk, in Tupolo
They were players in the
band
I
love playing music
Catch
those songs that whistle in the wind
That sparkle like a star, then land in my guitar
So
I can play’em again, and again, and again
With
my music-making buddies Bill and Den
When Billy picks those
crystal notes
He puts a smile on all those
folks
He’s a player in the band
And Dennis, when he hits
those skins
His brushes slide as smooth
as gin
He’s a player in the band
I
love playing music
Catch
those songs that whistle in the wind
That sparkle like a star, then land in my guitar
So
I can play’em again, and again, and again
With
my music-making buddies Bill and Den
We play our tunes in
different styles
Some real low, some real
wild
We’re just players in the
band
It all depends upon our mood
And if we’d had much solid
food
We’re just players in the
band
I
love playing music
Catch
those songs that whistle in the wind
That sparkle like a star, then land in my guitar
So
I can play’em again, and again, and again
With
my music-making buddies Bill and Den
