THE ROAD
words and music by Lenny Solomon

A cloud-filled rainy day; weighed heavy on my mind;
Felt my life slipping away, like I was running out of time.
A twisted, jagged branch, once part of a tree;
Was lying on the ground, staring back at me.
The thumping of my heart, shook my memory;
And thoughts about the past, of the way life used to be.
When the running of the bulls, set my chemistry a'flame;
Now that magic's gone, none of it remains.
You'll never walk a road that hasn't been walked before;
You'll never have a plan original to the core;
You can struggle with this truth, miss-spend all your youth,
Or get up from the floor and try for something more.
We travel through this life, thinking that we're charmed,
Where fate is just a play, and nobody gets harmed.
Sitting by the fire, protected by the light,
Having not a clue, to what is wrong or right.
You'll never walk a road that hasn't been walked before;
You'll never have a plan original to the core;
You can struggle with this truth, miss-spend all your youth,
Or get up from the floor and try for something more.
Everything we do, everything we try,
Affects the lives of those, merely passing by.
So no more tears or doubt, we've been too long on that line;
The message is quite clear, your life is your own rhyme.
You'll never walk a road that hasn't been walked before;
You'll never have a plan original to the core;
You can struggle with this truth, miss-spend all your youth,
Or get up from the floor and try for something more.
