THE PRISONER & THE JAILER words & music Lenny Solomon

The prisoner was in shackles,
not the iron kind
But shackles of the spirit,
shackles of the mind
His days were dank and dreary,
his eyes they couldn’t see
He couldn’t find a way to
win, he couldn’t find the key
The jailer’s days were
numbered, he couldn’t stand the box
That he was forced to live
in, keeping that damn door locked
He longed to feel the moment
when he’d gain his sovereignty
With a prisoner there no
longer, how long would it be
The prisoner and the jailer were
bonded at the heart
Always with each other, could
never be apart
When they’d look into a
mirror, the other they would see
The prisoner and the jailer,
reflected imagery
The
prisoner and the jailer, wanted just a break
From
their daily problems, those things they couldn’t shake
The
prisoner and the jailer, both looking for a sign
But
when the day had ended, they’d both be locked in time
Locked
in time
The prisoner and the jailer,
could no longer take
The pain of their existence
so they held a wake
For their past
transgressions for all the world to see
The prisoner and the jailer,
finally were set free
