WALK TO FREEDOM words and music L. Solomon

© L. Solomon 2002

People are coming, to this new land

Over the water, over the sand

Where freedom is a given, not a one night stand

From here and from there, to find a new start

Trust in their hands, stoutness of heart

They know which way the wind blows, they understand

Straight to the border, without any doubt

Tired of keeping their words in their mouth

They’re nobody’s fool, they just want to get out

And walk to freedom

Early to bed, early to rise

Working each day, to better their lives

Doing what needs to be done, without compromise

They’re digging ditches, they’re serving tea

Cleaning the hallways, for you and for me

They pray for salvation, work for their destiny

Straight to the border, without any doubt

Tired of keeping their words in their mouth

They’re nobody’s fool, they just want to get out

And walk to freedom

Walk, walk, walk, down freedom road

Talk, talk, talk, want their stories told

Dance, dance, dance, feel it in my toes

I just want to be, free to be just me

People are coming, to this new land

Over the water, over the sand

Where freedom is a given, not a one night stand

Straight to the border, without any doubt

Tired of keeping their words in their mouth

They’re nobody’s fool, they just want to get out

And walk to freedom

Walk to freedom

Walk to freedom
